Hi All: Not sure if I'm posting correctly for new thread - but here goes: I read with intrest a posting on another website called - dogsanddoubles.com - in which a gentleman posted a comment about Model '21 forearm lugs and barrel ribs "popping loose". Here lately, I personally have been shooting at least 100 targets on "Wobble Trap" every weekend here in NM with my '21 and have been shooting and hunting with Model '21's for over 25 years and have never had this problem.

I admit, on the first '21 I owned I did not know how to properly put the gun together, ie to assure that the gun is cocked before attempting to put the forearm on the gun. As a result I broke the spring-loaded part in the forearm iron which engages the forearm lug. My question is, - Is there any validity to the aforementioned comment?-rperlichek

As far as bbl. ribs popping it is most likely due to a refinish the owner is not aware of. I have looked at numerous M21s for people that were described as "excellent original condition" that were in fact refinished with the bbls. being hot blued instead of rust blued. This alone over time would cause the rib to pop.

Forend lugs coming loose is a known problem for Model 21's. I have had this happen on both vent rib guns and the standard rib guns. I believe the problem occurs more often on vent rib guns due to the design of the rib and the way it attaches to the post. I would not buy another vent rib 21 because of this problem. The soluition would have been to re-enforce the lug by making the lug and bottom short rib one unit like Parker did on their vent rib guns.
