Here is a rather rare Model 21, serial #30521,
it is a 20 Gauge 'Magnum' Model, 28", Vent Rib FULL/FULL.
The Model 21, 20 Gauge Magnum Model, was first cataloged in the early 1950's with standard 30" barrels choked FULL/FULL.
Schwing indicates that about 123 of these guns were manufactured during the period of 1953 to 1960 according to Winchester records. This appears to be one of those ordered with non-standard 28" Vent Rib barrels. The butt plate is original configuration and a user could easily handle the 1&1/4oz Magnum lead loads of the period without a recoil pad. Designed as a Duck or long range pheseant gun when the 20 Gauge 3" shell was popular. I shot a lot of ducks with a similar double and #6 in the first barrel and #4 in the second barrel.

I recently acquired a 1934 Tournament grade 20 gauge with 30" barrels and 3 inch
chambers. Don't the 3 inch chambers make this a "Magnum" of sorts?

It was made for the Western Cartridge company as part of a 2 barrel set. The 26 inch skeet barrels have long since disappeared.

Anyone have any idea of the total number of 30 inch 20 gauges produced??

Thanks, Bob

Probably hard to figure out. I have a 20 Ga two barrel set that is a skeet configuration (and described as a Skeet gun in the factory worksheet and Cody letter) which doesn't have "Skeet" on the floorplate, but both barrel sets (26" IC/Mod and 30" M/F) are chambered as 3"

The 'Magnum' model designation was first used in catalogs in the early 1950's for the introduction as a Production Model, the Model 21 in 20 gauge 3" as previously described with 30" F/F barrels.
Before that time period, Winchester would chamber a 20 gauge Model 21 in 3" as a Special Order.
During the Custom Shop era 20 gauge guns were chambered 3" if ordered.
There has been no totalization of the total number of 20 gauge 3" Model 21's produced but I would expect the number to be not more than 300 if that. -Dick
