Having made a limited survey on the literature and looking at my own Win21 I came to the conclusion that this ejector is very similar to the Baker one, as described by Gough Thomas (Shotguns & Cartridges, p. 33). Is this correct? How effective it is? Using CIP shot sheels it does not eject always out of the chamber. How can this system be improved with limited means?

My experience has been that Model 21 ejecters are very strong. The only problem that I have ever seen or heard of with empty cases sticking has been due to the cheap metal that is currently being used on many brands of cheap shells. I have been told that it is very thin tin and when it expands as the shell is fired it remains expanded instead of returning to near normal size as the brass rimmed cases do. I am involed with several youth shooting programs and this has been a very big problem the past few years. It is even more of a problem in auots or pumps as the extractors contact a much smaller percentage of the rims and the bolt will open but leave the empty stuck in the chamber. I used to rely on a wad knocker to remove wads or cases but some of these are now so difficult to remove that I always take an aluminum cleaning rod as a lot of the kids buy their shells as cheap as they can at discount stores. I have never heard of this problem with AA's, STS's, or Federal Gold but it does happen with their promotional shells.
