Sometime in the 1990's CSMC acquired the Model 21 tooling and began finishing/manufacturing Winchester Model 21's. In that era CSMC also began manufacturing the Model 21 without the Winchester name. In my first meeting with Tony Galazan, the owner of CSMC, told me I could have a Winchester 'Grand Royal' set for $55K or a CSMC Model 21 starting at $10K. CSMC would, and still will, build whatever you want only limited by your imagination and resources. Current base price is $13K.
CSMC inovations/introductions are Model 21 double rifles, 22 lr,
3&1/2" 12 gauge, Titanium frame and most notably a small frame Model 21 for the 28 and 410 gauge.
Previous 28 and 410 gauge Model 21 were manufactured on the 20 gauge frame with 20 barrel blanks drilled out resulting in 7&1/2# Model 21's. Collectors guns, yes, Target guns maybe but not field guns, at least to me.
A 'Baby' frame, as CSMC terms it, 28 gauge Model 21 will weigh about
5# 13oz, certainly suitable for the field. Base price is substantial but I term it................ "The best gun Winchester never produced!".
'Baby' frame Model 21's have an SW prefix with the S standing for 'small', I presume.
How many Model 21's and grades and specifications of these guns CSMC has produced are known only to CSMC and the owners of these Model 21's.
