Hello:
I am trying to buy my first Model 21. Unfortunately, I have to peruse the Internet gun auction sites such as GunsAmerica, GunBroker, and GunInternational, as there are no available 21's within driving distance of me. I would like to purchase a field grade 12 or 20 gauge gun with 28" barrel, choked full/mod or imp cyl/mod, and am willing to spend up to $7000. I have noted that more 26" skeet, WS1/WS2 configurations are available than my desired gun. A gun is available at an online site that has Briley thin wall chokes, nice wood, and desirable barrel length. How much will the non "correct" chokes detract from the gun's future value?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks, Jeffrey

If the gun in question already has Briley's installed, then the value should already be affected and should continue to bring a little less than a 'stock' Model 21 in the future.
The 'SKEET' grade was not only a Competition gun but was also advertized as the ideal upland gun because of the chokes and indeed many SKEET grades were purchased for hunting only. I hunted for many years with a 16 gauge SKEET and it actually was a better gun for hunting than competition because of the checkered butt and weight.
In reality, Sk1 and Sk2 are just about IC/MOD so if you find a nice 28" SKEET that you like in either 12 or 20 gauge, should be no problem. Good luck!-Dick
